After installing the Fingertip package you need to perform some post installation steps. They can be completed by using the Configure Fingertip tool.
Getting Started with the Post Installation
You can access it from the App Launcher or by pressing Configure in next to Fingertip in Installed Packages.
1. Open App Launcher
2. Search for Configure Fingertip
3. Select Configure Fingertip to start the Post Installation process
Configure Fingertip Page
The interface for Post Installation is the same in both Salesforce Classic and Lightning.
Start by adding a remote site:
! Click Remote Site Details. You will be redirected to Remote Site Details page in setup.
This makes sure that the automated configuration tool can make the needed changes to the organization.
Enable Metadata Callout to run the Post Configuration
Running Metadata Callout from the Remote Site Edit page allows our automated Post Install Configuration tool to run.
The fields are automatically filled you don’t need to change anything.
! Click Save.
Return back to the Configure Fingertip page after you have pressed save.
Enable Topics for the Decision object
Enabling Topics allows topics to be added in Decision, Plan, Task and Objective objects.
Topics are tags that can be used to categorize records.
! Click the Enable button. You will be redirected to Topics for Object Settings in Setup.
You will be redirected to Topics for Object Settings page in Salesforce Setup.
1. Find the Decision object on the list
2. Check the Enable Topics checkbox on the bottom or top of the page.
3. Press Save.
Enable Topics for the Plan object
You will be redirected to Topics for Object Settings page in Salesforce Setup.
1. Find the Plan object on the list
2. Check the Enable Topics checkbox on the bottom or top of the page.
3. Press Save.
Enable Topics for the Task object
You will be redirected to Topics for Object Settings page in Salesforce Setup.
1. Find the Task object on the list
2. Check the Enable Topics checkbox on the bottom or top of the page.
3. Press Save.
Enable Topics for the Objective object
You will be redirected to Topics for Object Settings page in Salesforce Setup.
1. Find the Objective object on the list
2. Check the Enable Topics checkbox on the bottom or top of the page.
3. Press Save.
Now you can return to the Configure Fingertip (Post Installation) page.
Setting up a Schedule for Suggestions
Scheduling Suggestions sets the time for checking when there is enough votes to approve a suggestion.
! Select a time for Scheduling Suggestions.
For example if you schedule it for 12 am, your suggestions will be approved or rejected based on votes every day at 12 am.
If no value is selected, the default value of 00 AM is used.
Set OWD for Activities to Controlled by Parent
Changing the Activities OWD to Controlled by Parent will ensure that security settings don’t block access of activities in Fingertip’s custom objects such as Decisions and Plans.
! Click Activities OWD. You will be redirected to Sharing Settings in Setup.
You will be redirected to a Sharing Settings page in Salesforce Setup.
1. Change the Default Internal Access setting for Activity to Controlled by Parent.
2. Press Save.
Return back to the Configure Fingertip page after you have pressed save.
Enable Feed Tracking for Tasks
With Feed Tracking users can follow Task objects on chatter feed.
! Click Enable. You will be redirected to the Feed Tracking page in Setup.
You will be redirected to Feed Tracking page in Salesforce Setup.
A. Find the Task object on the list
B. Check the Enable Feed Tracking checkbox on the bottom or top of the page.
C. Press Save.
Return back to the Configure Fingertip page after you have pressed save.
Enable Feed Tracking for Decisions and Plans
! Click Enable. You will be redirected to Feed Tracking in Setup.
You will be redirected to Feed Tracking page in Salesforce Setup.
1. Find the Plan object on the list
2. Check the All Related Objects checkbox on the middle of the page.
3. Press Save.
Repeat the same three steps for the Decision object.
Return back to the Configure Fingertip page after you have saved the changes for both objects.
Enable Additional Approval Settings
With Additional Approval Settings you can enable Email Approval Responses which lets users reply to email approval requests by typing APPROVE or REJECT in the first line of an email and adding comments in the second line and automatically update the Approval process in Salesforce.
You can also define who should be the default user for workflows used within Salesforce and Fingertip from the same Setup page.
! Click Additional Approval Settings. You will be redirected to Additional Approval Settings.
You will be redirected to Process Automation Settings page in Salesforce Setup.
1. Check the Enable Email Approval Response checkbox.
2. Change the Default Workflow User to an administrator in your org.
3. Press Save.
Return back to the Configure Fingertip page after you have pressed save.
Finishing the installation
After installing or upgrading you should test some basic functionalities in your new Fingertip App.
- Add users, see if they can use Fingertip
- Create a decision and share it with people
- See if you can move the Decision phase
- Try giving stances to decisions
- Create a plan and add items to it
If some these are causing issues, first off you should run the post installation again, but if the issues persist, contact our support at: support@fingertip.org.
